The destination of remittances
Most remittances are used for household expenses: food, housing, health, and education. This is their main function and it is valuable. But in many families, part can be saved or invested to build assets that generate their own income over time.
That shift, from covering the month to building an asset, is what allows help from a family member abroad to become a lasting source of income.
Ideas to invest part of a remittance
- First, cover essential expenses and create an emergency fund.
- Set a fixed percentage for savings or investment, even if it's small.
- Choose assets that are understood and whose risk is clear.
- Diversify among currencies: pesos, dollars, and euros.
- Avoid offers that promise guaranteed or excessively high returns.
How a fraction fits in
With fractions starting at 50 USD, a family can begin building wealth in assets that generate daily income. Those sending money from the United States or Spain can also gift fractions to their relatives in Colombia via a gift card, or invest directly in their own name.
The net income from each asset is credited daily to the balance and can be withdrawn or reinvested according to platform rules. It is not a bank deposit nor does it have guaranteed returns: it is an investment in real assets with their own risks.
All investments carry risks, including capital loss. The returns of CityFraction assets are estimated and not guaranteed.
Risks and precautions
Remittances also attract fraud: people offering miracle investments to families receiving money from abroad. Be wary of very high fixed returns, pressure to decide quickly, and anyone asking for money to personal accounts. Always verify the company, its legal documents, and risk information before investing.
The power of small amounts
An average remittance is not a large sum, which is why many families think investing is not for them. But consistency matters more than size. Allocating a fixed percentage of each remittance to an income-generating asset, and reinvesting part of that income, allows wealth to grow gradually over the years.
Fractions starting at 50 USD are designed precisely for this: so no one needs to gather a large sum to start owning part of a real asset. The outcome is not guaranteed, but the habit of saving and investing regularly is one of the most effective tools for building stability.
Conclusion
Remittances are one of the most important money flows in Colombia. Dedicating a portion, even if small, to building wealth can make a difference in the long term.
